This site lets you find Canadian suppliers of certified forest products whose origins have been verified under a chain-of-custody (CoC) standard.
These products may be certified under a chain-of-custody standard associated with a particular forest certification system (CSA, FSC, SFI, PEFC) that have an associated product labeling option.
They may also be certified under a "generic chain-of-custody" standard (such as PricewaterhouseCoopers or KPMG), which can be used to track fibre from forests certified to several different programs, but do not have an associated product labeling option.
Chain-of-custody certification provides a link between the certified forest and the certified product, offering support for product claims and labels. FSC has an international standard for chain-of-custody as does PEFC. To ensure international alignment, CSA and SFI have adopted chain-of-custody requirements that are based on the PEFC chain-of-custody standard (PEFC Annex 4).
